We Choose The Moon

WeChooseTheMoon.org was designed to celebrate the Fortieth anniversary of the Apollo 11 Lunar landing by developing an interactive recreation of the event. The site uses Flash to mesh archival video, audio, & photos into an experience that will make you feel as if you too had walked on the moon that day.

The site went live on July 16, 2009 at 8:02 a.m. 1-hour prior to launch at 9:32 a.m. exactly 40 years to the minute after the historic launch. Visitors are then taken on their own 4-day virtual real time trip to the moon broken into 11 key stages. During the 4-day experience, users will be able track the progress of the journey via and Downloadable Widget, Email or Twitter. Tweets will also be charted on the website, in relation to the point in the journey. In addition to this, the actual 4-day long NASA audio of the Apollo 11 mission will stream through the site.
