Subway Passengers Photographs Look like 16th-Century Paintings

The photographer Matt Crabtree shoots photos of unsuspecting Londoners secretly and results gives them a 16th-century portrait feel. There’s not much editing involved as the idea itself is enough to inspire the viewer to use their imagination.

The series is titled ’16th Century Tube Passengers’, and Matt takes the surreptitious photographs while travelling on the underground. “All these shots are taken, retouched and sent from my phone,” wrote Matt on Facebook. “Capturing the most of mundane commuter moments with a quiet, classical beauty.”
